Your laptop screen is covered in fingerprints. Your keyboard has crumbs in it. It is gross.
Here is How to Clean Your Electronics Properly Without Damage.
1. The Magic Cloth: Microfiber
Never use a paper towel. It is wood pulp. It scratches your screen. Use a microfiber cloth (the kind for glasses). It lifts oil instead of smearing it.
2. The Solution: 70% Isopropyl Alcohol
Do NOT use Windex. It destroys the anti-reflective coating on MacBooks. Use 70% Isopropyl Alcohol mixed 50/50 with distilled water. Spray the CLOTH, not the device.
3. Compressed Air (The Blower)
Turn your keyboard upside down. Spray compressed air in short bursts. Watch the crumbs fall out. Do not shake the can, or it will spray liquid.
Kiran’s Take: The Toothpick
Look at your charging port (Lightning or USB-C). It is probably full of pocket lint.
Use a wooden toothpick to GENTLY scrape it out. You will be amazed at how much faster your phone charges when the connection is clean.
Conclusion
A clean tool is a happy tool. Take 5 minutes on Sunday to scrub your gear.
